Radon Testing
    The EPA and Surgeon General
recommend that all homes be tested
for radon and that homes measuring
higher than 4 picocuries per liter be
fixed.  Anyone can test their own
home using low cost passive devices.

Greg Enright is a certified residential
    radon measurement provider, and
can test your home following the EPA
    guidelines for Quality Control and
    Quality Assurance, ensuring accuracy
for tests requested by buyers and
    sellers during real estate
    transactions.

We use continuous radon monitors that produce detailed measurement
reports showing hourly readings, as well as integrating charcoal devices
that are sent to a third party lab for results.

The US Congress has set a long term goal that indoor radon levels be no
more than outdoor levels, about 0.4 pCi/L.  EPA recommends fixing your
home if the results of one long term test or the average of two short term
tests show radon levels of 4 pCi/L or higher.  With today's technology,
most homes can be reduced to 2 pCi/L or below. You may also want to
consider fixing your home if the level is between 2 and 4 pCi/L.

Short term tests take a minimum of 48 hours and must be conducted with
closed house conditions, that is, all doors and windows shut except to
enter and exit the house.  Ventilation systems must be shut off during the
test, but existing radon reduction systems should be running.

Long term tests run for a minimum of 90 days and the windows and doors
may be open with ventilations systems operating.  Long term tests are
more likely to show your home's year round radon level and are often
used when a short term test indicates radon may be high, and
confirmation is needed.

Radon often enters the home through ground water from private wells.
Using the water for showers and laundry releases the radon into the air
in the home.  We can also test your well water for radon.

Our radon tests start at $250 plus travel, call us for an exact price.
